Tamara is looking at the socio-cultural and food provisioning experiences of fishers across the Great Lakes region involving multiple case studies. Her research project and questions include:

Child and youth fishing in Milwaukee

• What are the motivations of children and youth to participate in fishing in Milwaukee? Does fishing provide socio-cultural benefits to youth?

Ice fishers in Milwaukee

• What fish are being caught most frequently during the ice fishing season? What caught fish are the most consumed during the ice fishing season? What are the main motivations and benefits of ice fishing?

Diverse fishers in Chicago

• To identify how social relationships, shared practices, or community networks shape the role of fishing in fostering cultural continuity and collective well-being among diverse communities in Chicago.

Rural and Urban Salmon fishing across Ontario

• What are the differences of salmon fishing in urban versus rural areas across Ontario, mainly through differences of avidity, harvest, and consumption.
